AUGUSTA - The Maine House of Representatives today voted 74-58 in favor of a governor’s bill sponsored by Speaker Sara Gideon that would end Maine’s outdated law banning qualified and trained nurse practitioners and other advanced practice clinicians (APCs) from providing abortion care.
Augusta – The Maine Coalition for Sensible Drug Policy today voiced support for LD 1492, An Act to Reform Drug Sentencing Laws, which it said will save lives by bringing a public health approach to Maine’s drug policy.

Boston – A federal appeals court in Boston has upheld a lower court ruling that the Aroostook County Jail must provide a Madawaska woman with medication assisted treatment for her substance use disorder while she serves a 40-day sentence.
Bipartisan legislators and privacy advocates will speak in support of LD 946, “An Act to Protect the Privacy of Online Customer Information,” at a press conference on Wednesday, April 24 at 10:00 a.m. at the State House Welcome Center.
