Heather joined the ACLU of Maine in 2023 as a legal fellow focusing on the criminalization of poverty and homelessness. She was excited to join the team so she could use legal advocacy to challenge the criminalization of homelessness and other issues that entangle people harmed by racial and economic injustice in the criminal legal system.
She earned her Juris Doctor from Yale Law School in 2023. Before law school, Heather spent more than a decade as a community organizer, policy advocate, and researcher working alongside and on behalf of poor and marginalized communities to address food insecurity, homelessness, and other forms of violence.
Heather has also earned a Master of Science in Violence Conflict and Development from the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies, as well as a Master of Science in in International Development and Humanitarian Emergencies from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
In her free time, Heather loves spending time outdoors, particularly in the mountains and in the ocean. A native of western Maine, she also spends significant time with loved ones, dancing, and reading.
