RACE, SOVEREIGNTY, AND MAINE AT 200 YEARS

Where Do We Go From Here?

Using Martin Luther King, Jr.’s fourth and final published book, Where Do We Go From Here: Chaos or Community? as our guide, this year’s holiday program examines the meaning of race, tribal sovereignty and the struggle for self-determination in the two centuries since statehood.

Through a discussion that is grounded in history and analysis, speakers from around the state will address what must be done to achieve this goal and the realization of justice as we begin a new era.

Complimentary childcare, which includes a child-friendly dinner, will be provided for ages 4 to 10 through AmeriCorps Alums. Registration is required. Please email [email protected] for more information.

Additionally, once again, we are collaborating with Maine Senior Corps for their Warm Hearts, Warm Feet campaign to ensure older Mainers have warm socks this winter. Attendees are asked to bring new pairs of socks of any size to contribute to our Senior Corps collection.

**Please note that every effort is being made to provide complimentary tickets to those who may otherwise not be able to attend. To help, please consider a donation at the time of ticket purchase. These tickets will be available to those who express interest on a first-come-first-serve basis at [email protected].

Please print tickets for entrance to the event.
