Craving a good read? Want to find new ways to inform your activism? Looking for a way to build community around the issues of civil rights? Enter the ACLU of Maine Civil Liberties Book Club.

Join us for regular, virtual book club meetings hosted by some of our favorite Maine authors and their guests. Each session we'll discuss our latest book choice and dive into how the arts can inform our advocacy for civil rights.

Book discussions will be pre-recorded and aired via Facebook Live, where individuals can participate in real-time conversations about the book at hand. Questions and comments from readers can be submitted ahead of time to our hosts by emailing bookclub@aclumaine.org or by tweeting using the hashtag #ACLUMEBookClub.

After airing, videos will be available to watch on our book club homepage and on our Facebook Page.

Tune in on April 15th at 12 p.m. for our first meeting where we’ll be discussing An American Marriage by Tayari Jones, hosted by author Lily King and her guest, local educator Ekhlas Ahmed.

Updates on upcoming books and reading questions are available here.
