In 2012, the State of Maine passed an anti-bullying law requiring all public schools to have a policy against bullying and harassment, including cyberbullying that impacts students while at school. The ACLU of Maine helped write this law and worked to get it passed, along with many other organizations concerned about increasing levels of bullying, particularly toward LGBTQ students and other targeted groups.
