Maggie joined the ACLU of Maine in October 2024 as a communications fellow. In this role, she supports the policy, development, and legal teams by distilling their work and mission into clear, compelling messages for the public, helping to convey the organization’s impact and outcomes and engage concerned Mainers.
Before joining the ACLU, Maggie worked as a writer, content designer, UX expert, and communications specialist at tech startups and agencies in New York, Austin, and Maine. She most recently worked as a content director at a Portland design agency that creates online spaces for nonprofits and as a writer at Northeastern University’s Roux Institute. Maggie is a seasoned storyteller who is passionate about uncovering the individuals and narratives behind the issues, policies, and events that impact our state. She earned her Bachelor of the Arts in Communications at the University of New Hampshire.
Maggie is a born and raised Mainer who grew up on the family apple orchard in the rural town of Hiram. When she’s not at work, you might find her eating her way through Portland’s delicious restaurants, swimming in the ocean, puzzling over the daily crossword, or being a helicopter parent to her two adorable and perfectly behaved cats, July and Peewee.
